MassChallenge choses netBlazr as 2011 finalist

From the 733 entries from 24 countries and 34 states, netBlazer has been selected as a finalist at this year’s MassChallenge. The non-profit organization, who’s mission is to catalyze a start-up renaissance, is committed to helping entrepreneurs grow and reach their potential as well as connect early-stage companies with the resources they need to launch and succeed.

Gov. Deval Patrick announced the winners at MassChallenge’s headquarters in Boston’s fledgling Innovation District. “The MassChallenge competition is a great example of the robust, collaborative community of innovators in the commonwealth,” Patrick said in a statement. “Our ability to attract and engage high-growth startups from around the world is a reflection of our global competitiveness and is an excellent indication that we will continue to lead the country in innovation, job creation and economic growth for years to come.”

netBlazr will join other finalists at MassChallenge’s 22,000-square-foot space at Fan Pier for the accelerator program that will draw to a close on at the end of 2011. On the basis of what they’ve accomplished, companies will be awarded cash prizes totaling $1 million to take their revolutionary ideas, products and services to greater heights.

Earlier this year, President Obama honored MassChallenge as one of the nation’s best organizations for supporting the next generation of economic growth engines.

“The start-ups are where all the value begins, where the jobs begin. These entrepreneurs are doing amazing and inspiring things, and they are incredibly passionate people who really care about what they are doing, ” says John Harthorne, founder and CEO of MassChallenge.
